Akdem Copyright Agency, which set out five years ago to promote Turkish literature in the world, announced its transformation with the motto "towards a more dynamic future" to the publishing world with a launch meeting held in Istanbul on 17 March. Turkish publishers, representatives of publisher non-governmental organisations, officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, translators, members of the press and publishers from abroad attended the launch meeting held at the Atatürk Cultural Centre in Taksim. It was underlined that the agency's vision for the new period is "a global cultural brand starting from Türkiye".
 
At the launch meeting, which was attended by Turkish publishers as well as publishers from Azerbaijan, Serbia, Lebanon, Egypt, Russia, the UK, Iraq, Kuwait, Uzbekistan, Syria and Ukraine, the founder of the agency Dr. Muhammed Ağırakça talked about the new brand and vision of the agency.
 
The copyright agency, which enables the publication of many names from Turkish literature such as Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, Mustafa Kutlu, Peyami Safa, Tarık Buğra and Cengiz Dağcı in different languages around the world, will operate under the Introtema brand in the new period. The agency, which will provide services worldwide as a cultural brand of Türkiye, is aimed to have a structure that will make a name for itself in the international culture stage in the upcoming years.
 
In the film shown at the launch meeting, it was highlighted that the copyright agency, which was established in 2018, has sold and published 2,424 books in different languages within a five-year period, and completed the translation of 914 books in cooperation with the wide network of translators. Dr. Ağırakça, the founder of the agency, stated that 84% of the copyright sales made in 30 different languages in 47 countries have been made from Türkiye to abroad and that during this period, it has made a great contribution to the recognition of Turkish literature worldwide.
 
Taner Beyoğlu, Deputy Director General of Libraries and Publications of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, made a greeting speech at the launching meeting and talked about the role of copyright agencies in promoting the country's literature abroad and expressed his gratitude to the whole team for the achievements of Akdem Copyright Agency in five years.
 
At the launch meeting attended by more than 150 guests, the 23-person staff of the agency was introduced to the participants. The fact that the agency has special copyright officers for Russian, Arabic and Spanish speaking countries, that the agency has employees in Argentina and Russia, and that the agency has a strong team of consultants who have carried out important tasks in the publishing sector attracted the attention of sector representatives and created enthusiasm in the sector for new projects.
 
Aiming to participate in more than 30 international events in 2023, Intortema Agency team was established in a structure that will not only better represent the publishing of our country abroad, but also introduce authors and publishing houses from different countries to the world, and realise this as a Turkish brand.
